Silo, Tenzing and Whale Harbor

Now that we are back and recovered from our Nebraska trip things are getting back to a normal, for us.  Home cooked meals, back to my books, tv shows and sitting out.

Recently we finished season three of Silo and look forward to the fourth and final season next year. Great acting from Rebecca Ferguson and Tim Robbins.  Lots of twists.

Tonight we may watch Tenzing after the Halloween trick-or-treaters wipe us out of candy.

Reading / One of the things that makes me happy is sitting outside with the dog and reading a book. When the library notified me Mary Beth Keane's latest novel was available for pickup I pounced on it.

This is the fourth book I have read by this author and she never disappoints. First part of the book is primarily set in Ireland and focuses on the Joyce family.  The Irish language is dying out but in this small town and area in Ireland it's fluent, taught to the children and spoken at home. English is taught at school so the children can fnd jobs when they eventually leave the small community for other parts of Ireland or in England.

The Joyce family consists of the father Cathel, mother Mary and eleven sons ranging in age from18 to newborn. After a tragedy, some of the 11 brothers are dispersed to different places. A seminary school, a job in England using forged identity papers and a relatives home.

If you like a family drama you will like this one.  It spans over decades and you read about the lives of all the boys as they leave home and make their own way.

* Be sure to read the author's note at the end of the book.  Very informative.   Just don't read it first because it will give away some important and emotional parts of the plot.

Today/ My next read is up in the air but I will peruse the titles on my Kindle today.  We have an appointment for husband to get a MRI so I will read while I wait.  Then lunch and some grocery shopping.

That's it for me.  Can't believe tomorrow is November! It's also Deb Nance's birthday!  Our lovely host of Sunday Salon 💗

Sharing with Joy for British Isles Friday and Deb at Readerbuzz for Sunday Salon.
