It's time for the Classic Club Spin!   👈 Check that out through the link and join in if you'd like.  It took me years to finally join the Classics Club and I have been enjoying having a goal of reading books on my list.  The Spin is a fun little game.

  1. Oh what a great list! I haven't heard of that Daphne DuMaurier but I want to look into it and of course I always enjoy an Agatha Christie. Can't wait to see what book you get!

  2. It looks like you have a solid & strong list! You probably can't go wrong with whatever the spin turns out. It seems I've read 5 of these. I particularly like Fitzgerald, Hemingway, Wharton, and Blixen. I could read them all again. Good luck!

    1. Susan, my rereads would be number 12 and 18, maybe the Vonnegut one too. It's been so long since university days and I wanted to refresh with those. But the rest will be new ones for me.

  3. Well, I will always wish our spinners the Australian classic on their list, so I wish you A Town Like Alice this time :-)

    1. Marg, I've only participated twice before since joining. I read the first spin fine, the second one i abandoned because it was boring AF but then picked a different title. So I still read a classic.

  5. I'm joining in for the first time! As for your list...

All Quiet on the Western Front by Erich Maria Remarque - I've seen the movie but have not read the book. The movie was amazing.

Mrs. Dalloway by Virginia Woolf - I've tried twice to read this short book and simply can NOT.

Out of Africa by Blixon, Karen - loved the movie; tried to read the book; couldn't; a gift from my very best friend and one of her favorites so I can't give up on it just yet.

The Great Gatsby by F. Scott Fitzgerald - I've probably seen every movie, mini series, whatever adaption and I've probably read the book 5 times; what proves, TO ME, that the writing is brilliant is the fact that after all that, I still don't remember key plot points so every time I read it is like reading it for the first time.

I have not read (or seen) any of the others on your list. What time is our host going to spin that wheel????

    1. Jinjer, I think they announce the spin number today, Sunday. You can still post and join in, its a just-for-fun thing with the Classics Club. Oooo...you ought to join and make your list of 50 books! I was intimidated by that at first and it took me several days to decide on my book list. But its a cool motivator and I can manage a 5 year goal!

  6. What a great list! I have read eleven of your books, most of them really great. So, I'm looking forward what you will get. I always have the Hemingway on my list but I have another number, so we will definitely get different books. ;)
    Thanks for visiting my post.

    1. Today is the day, Marianne! We get our spin number and it looks to be number 2. So I will be reading Agnes Greay by Anne Bronte and you'll be reading Fathers and Sons. Currently I have a buddy read going on and then I will get to Agnes Grey.

    2. Yes, I also checked a while ago and am quite happy with the choice. I love Russian authors and this will be my first Turgenjew. Enjoy Agnes Grey.

  7. Looks like you'll be reading Agnes Grey. That's not one that I've read, so I'll be interested to hear your thoughts. I've read All Quiet on the Western Front, but didn't care for it at all. Couldn't get into Catch 22. Didn't care for The Great Gatsby (read twice). Read Ethan Frome many, many years ago, but don't remember if I liked it very well. I think I did. Read Mrs. Dalloway and thought it was ok. Too much stream of consciousness, though. Pretty much not a fan of Classics. Lol!

    2. I now realize that I do like some Classics. Willa Cather and Edith Wharton are two favorites. Hope I didn't offend anyone!

  8. Looks like you'll be reading Agnes Grey. It's on the short side and based on the author's experience as a governess. I liked it, but loved her Tennant of Wilfdell Hall. Hope you enjoy it!

    1. JoAnn, yes I am looking forward to that one! I was good for any of the ones on my list and while I'd read a few waaay back in university days, looking at knocking a few of those out this year. Glad to hear you liked Agnes Grey. I think I may also own the Tennant book as well.

  9. You have a really great list of books, a few of which I have read. I have read Agnes Grey. I am eager to see what you think of it.

The book I want to read the most from your list is the George Orwell book. I don't think I have it on my classics longlist, but I am adding it right now.

    1. Deb, I've already started a draft list for my next 50 books for Classics Club! I did have to replace one title I had DNF.

Well this month went by fast. I had some good reading, good walking, time fiddling with my plants which did not freeze to death this month.....
