I'm taking a break from the book talk today to share some slow cooker recipes.
Jinjer told me about CrocktoberFest! Here are a couple of easy meals.
👇👇👇
Place it on high for 3 hours. Use a slotted spoon to remove the chicken and place in a bowl for shredding. Drain all the juice from the crock and place shredded chicken back in. Cover with BBQ sauce and heat up on low for a bit. This makes great sandwiches.
We have had this on buns or straight on to the plate. Sides are whatever you like. 👇
This was my last post on the food blog! Some folks just had to tell me they get theirs from Costco but I like doing this one at home. Less greasy.
I have a good one with beef and noodles coming up called Thieves Stew. See you later with another Crocktober post and then back to books and life :-)
I have an addiction to crockpots and Instant Pots. I have a variety of sizes and shapes.
ReplyDeleteVicki, we have two slow cookers - a 6 quart and a 3 quart, might be a 4 quart. the small one was a gift to Doug when he turned 18 and moved out of his father's house so...it's 50 years old and still working!
DeleteI'm grateful that you put these recipes out ... I use the slow cooker often in the winter and these will be perfect. I'm not a cook per se but I follow directions. Lately we've been having quite a bit of soup ... tomato soup and butternut squash soup b/c our garden was producing so many of them. Some day soon we will be sick of both, lol. I will look at more of your recipes on your old site too. thanks.
ReplyDeleteSusan, these recipes are tried and true and I hope you enjoy them. Using the extra produce from your garden is a great idea!
DeleteI just have a super small crockpot, oval, white, but I do think a whole chicken will fit in it. I definitely want to try your rotisserie chicken recipe because I've been buying the ones from the grocery store and they have some weird chemically taste that I don't like. I keep buying them because of the convenience. I wonder what the price difference is. Let me check. $1.46lb compared to a ready-made chicken that is $2.65lb! Wow.
ReplyDeleteThe BBQ chicken and chicken and dumplings and Santa Fe chicken look good tooooooo.
Thanks for sharing!
Jinjer, that chicken came out so well. I will probably make it again when we get back from our trip. Yeah...I don't like that chemical taste either.
DeleteSaving this post! Between Will's activities and my obedience classes there are a couple nights a week I rely on the crockpot. I'm always looking for new recipes and these look great! I definitely want to try the rotisserie chicken recipe as well as the chicken gnocchi soup and barbecue chicken.
ReplyDeleteKatherine, the slow cooker is such a blessing when you are crunched for time. Or if it's so hot that you want to keep your kitchen cooler!
DeleteThose look good. I don't own a crock pot, but I suspect I'm missing out. We're not cooking as much as I would like and maybe this would help.
ReplyDeleteJoy, it's been a life saver some nights!
